BF/WBO/IBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KOs) defended his titles with a dominating tenth round KO over Samuel Peter (34-4, 27 KOs) on Saturday night at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany in front of 40,000 spectators.
Wladimir kept Peter at bay in round one, landing a few good right hands. Klitschko continued to punish Peter as the rounds progressed. Peter’s right eye was badly swollen midway through the bout.
The Nigerian Nightmare was unable to get into the fight as the battering continued. Klitschko finally floored Peter with a barrage of punches in round ten and the bout was stopped. Time was 1:22.
“As expected, Peter was in a very good condition: fast and powerful,” said Klitschko afterward. “It was incredible how many hard right hands he was able to take. I am glad that I won the fight.”
